A Vampire Horror Visual Novel

Scarlet Blood is a Vampire Horror Visual Novel that lets you experience the many centuries of a vampire's existence. Set in London during the Great Plague, follow the story of a young man whose desperate attempt to save his sick sister plunges him into a dark world of immortality and bloodlust. Turned into a vampire, he is haunted by loss and consumed by a thirst.

Now, under the enigmatic guidance of Lord Darvell, you must uncover an ancient artefact that holds the secrets to your immortality and the fate of London itself. This is just the beginning—your journey will span centuries and be shaped by the choices you make. As you navigate a world of moral dilemmas, intrigue and supernatural forces, your decisions will alter the course of history. Unravel dark secrets, forge alliances, and travel beyond London to distant lands where the mysteries of your existence await.

A Game Inspired by Legends

The game draws inspiration from classics like Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines and the Legacy of Kain series, as well as modern titles like V Rising and Vampyr. It blends their storytelling with a unique vision of vampire horror, and is deeply rooted in vampire literature. Future updates will introduce legendary figures from history and myth to expand the lore and world.

Early Development & Use of Generative AI

Scarlet Blood is currently in early development. The game uses AI-generated art, music and sound effects. Some systems may not be fully polished. We’re a small team working just a few hours per week, and the future of the project depends on community interest and feedback.

If something doesn't work as intended, please know it will likely be addressed in a future update.

Alpha 0.0.1 Features

• Playable Prologue: Experience the full prologue that sets the stage for the story.
• Quests and Encounters:
  • 11 quests and 3 radiant quests
  • 3 fixed and several random encounters
  • 2 endings (in the prologue)
• Base Management: A player base unlocked after "The Empty House" quest. Upgrade rooms using resources from quests.
• Interactive World: Read in-game newspaper articles to learn about world events.
• Achievements: Unlockable achievements tied to the prologue.
• Core Systems:
  • Custom UI and Extras Menu (Extras Gallery, World Map, Inventory & Storage system.)
  • Character stats and creation screen
  • Trading, Storage, Day-By-Day progression, Weather Effects
  • Lockpicking mini-game
• Audio & Visuals: Original music, sound effects, backgrounds and special illustrations.
• Gameplay Duration: Up to 2 hours of content (~36,206 words of script).

Update 05.07.2025 – What’s Next?

We're currently working on version 0.0.2, which has grown into a much larger update. Rather than a quick patch, we're aiming to revitalize the game with new quests, boss fights, turn-based combat, city-to-city travel, and a deeper companion system. We're also rewriting large portions of the script for tone and grammar, and adding new systems for interactivity.

We don’t have a firm release date yet—expect it later this summer or beyond. Our goal is quality, not speed. Stay tuned for a detailed roadmap and devlogs.
